The Stumbleupon Effect

On August 27th, Stumbleupon kindly sent a ton of traffic to thinkdave.com, all to read my award-winning (not really) WordPress as a CMS post. Sadly, none of those visitors hired me to build them a WordPress theme...

Even more sadly traffic has completely returned to normal now, making my Google Analytics graph look somewhat sad.

Know the feeling Dave. I've had better luck with guest articles though - the traffic keeps coming long after the initial spike

The problem with guest posts is twofold: Firstly, I never know what to write about and secondly, I never seem to have time to update my own blog. Hence the reason I'm still wallowing in Internet obscurity.

I know - life seems to be one big blog writing session sometimes, eh? What I've done before is round up a bunch of useful stuff from my own blog posts and re-write them into one new article. This means you get a head start on an article - they get a good taste of what your blog has to offer.

Good idea! I really need to start writing more. There's definitely a direct correlation between blog posts and new clients. Not that I'm quiet, but with the big push for joblessness in 2010 I need to get my shit together
